I was at a bar very similar to the one I went to last night. It was like a cross between that bar and the mermaid. Both bars are dark, small, and mostly empty. I was there with my girlfriend .We were having a good time sitting at the bar. It was pretty empty. Felt like just us, but there may have been more. So we're sitting at the bar and I have a mango when a person sits next to me. I think it was a man. The man says or does something and my girlfriend leans over me to tell them to stop. I say that I just want to eat my mango. After my girlfriend goes back to how she was sitting I notice that there's a bite in my mango. I didn't bite it. Not sure what happens next, but my girlfriend and this person seem to be in on it. My girlfriend is like messing with me but it isn't jokingly or lovingly. It's just cruel. I don't remember exactly what her and this person were doing but it felt cruel. Next thing I know I'm swinging back and forth, like a ball attached to a pendulum, bouncing between the walls of the bar. I think that I'm running back and forth but I'm just standing on one leg and holding the other with my knee up to my face. I woke up. Relieved to have woken up. Feeling bizarre. I was in my bed wearing the exact same clothes I'm wearing right now. I put my hoodie over my eyes, pull my blanket over me, and try to go back to sleep. My blanket then starts moving up the wall. I grab it and try to pull it back down but I can't. Whatever is moving it is stronger than me. Immediately I feel like I'm being pinned down on my bed. Like there's someone or something on top of me holding me down but I can't see them because my blanket is over my face. I feel my wrists being held down and I feel myself suffocating. At this point I realize/hope I'm dreaming and I'm fighting back whatever is holding me down saying “wake up, wake up.” It doesn't work and I feel myself begin to lose consciousness. As in losing consciousness it's like I'm in a dark tunnel rapidly traveling towards a light. I woke up as I was about to reach the light.
Dreams can often reflect our emotions, experiences, and subconscious thoughts. Here’s a potential interpretation of your dream based on the details you provided:
The Bar Setting: Bars are often associated with social interaction, relaxation, or escapism. Since the bar was empty but you were having a good time with your girlfriend, it could symbolize a private space in your relationship where you feel secure but possibly also isolated from others. The combination of bars suggests a blend of familiar comfort and perhaps a feeling of being trapped or constrained.
The Mango: Food in dreams can represent nourishment but also desire or temptation. The mango you were eating could symbolize something enjoyable in your life that’s being threatened. The fact that you notice a bite in it that you didn't take may indicate feelings of betrayal or that something enjoyable has been tainted or interfered with by others.
Your Girlfriend's Behavior: Your girlfriend leaning over to confront the man, only for you to feel she is not being loving but rather cruel later, could point to concerns about communication or trust in your relationship. It may reflect feelings of vulnerability if you feel she is siding with others instead of supporting you. This part of the dream might signify an underlying fear of abandonment or feeling that someone close to you doesn't have your best interests at heart.
The Swinging/Pendulum Movement: Swinging back and forth could represent feeling like you are caught between conflicting emotions or situations. It might also suggest a lack of control in a certain aspect of your life, possibly linked to how you perceive your relationship or social interactions.
Waking Up and Feeling Bizarre: The sense of relief upon waking indicates you may be aware of underlying stress or anxiety in your waking life that you are glad to escape, at least momentarily. The realization that you were still in your clothes could signify a feeling of being trapped in a particular mindset or situation.
The Struggle Under the Blanket: This part of your dream, especially feeling pinned down and suffocated, might symbolize feelings of oppression or a sense of not being able to express yourself fully. It could represent anxiety or pressure you feel in your life, possibly related to the earlier events with your girlfriend and the stranger. The strong force holding you down may suggest external pressures or emotions that overwhelm you.
Journey Toward the Light: Traveling through a dark tunnel toward a light while losing consciousness may indicate a desire for escape from current difficulties, pain, or confusion. The light could symbolize hope or enlightenment, representing your wish to reach a clearer, calmer state or understanding of your situation.
Overall, this dream hints at complex emotions regarding trust, vulnerability in your relationship, feelings of betrayal, and internal struggles with anxiety and control. It may be beneficial to reflect on these feelings and how they relate to your waking life, especially in your relationship and social interactions.
